Propane provides fuel for the appliances and heat is provided by wood burning stove. Propane is stored in two (2) buried 1,000 gallon propane tanks (and yes—propane companies can deliver propane to the location). Each living quarter contains its own full kitchens and sleeping quarters and the entire elk lodge sleeps 17 people. Solar panels provide electricity and is stored in twelve-24V batteries with a 10,000 Watt back-up propane generator. Rainwater and snowmelt is collected from the metal standing seam roof and stored in a 6,000 gallon capacity cistern and there is another 2,000 gallon cistern that serves water to the horse barn. This is truly a unique hunting lodge to basecamp elk hunts from. The lodge is being sold “as-is” and includes all furnishings.

Situated at 11,000’ in elevation, the hunting lodge is one of two 40-acre parcels entirely surrounded by the Gunnison National Forest. Trees have been removed around the cabin and barn to create a fire barrier and the logs of the lodge are treated with fire retardant. Access to this property is provided through exclusive access easements with 1.5 miles of private road and a locked gate to prevent the public from accessing the road. Located just 2.5 miles from the Colorado Trail, this elk lodge is situated for unprecedented access to the surrounding National Forest for hunting and mountain recreational activities. Elk populations in the area are stable and mule deer populations are growing—with buck-to-doe ratios and harvest rates well above the state average. There are also moose in the area. Over-the-counter elk tags are available in this area and due to the remote location of the hunting lodge, hunting pressure is quiet low as most people don’t venture out this far. Several seeps are located on the property and surrounding area and the nearby Sawmill Park is quite a haven for wildlife.
