Located on the bank of Kelso Creek the ranch is surround by looming red rock cliffs of the Escalante Canyon. This truly off grid cabin is situated for seclusion but still gives you some breath-taking views up and down the canyon. The ranch sits in the heart of elk and mule deer country. Kelso Mesa, which is accessed just by crossing the creek and climbing up on the mesa, is known for having great mule deer and elk hunting. In addition, there is BLM public land immediately surrounding the ranch and access to thousands of acres of hunting and recreation land in any direction. For the fishermen Kelso Creek dumps into Escalante Creek and both are home to the true native Cutthroat Trout. Escalante Creek is not far away and can quickly be accessed by UTV.
The well-built, cozy cabin can sleep 8 plus people. There is a upstairs deck and a main level deck for everyone to enjoy the peace and serenity coupled with breathe taking views. Could be a great survival property, hunting property or a place to get away and relax and enjoy the outdoors. Although the property is remote and off grid you will still enjoy the comforts of home with the improvements the current owners have added to this home. There is a starlink device mounted on the roof for staying connected. The solar panels feed into the battery banks to store power. There is a generator for backup or when the demands of the cabin are high. Water collection was developed to supply water to the cistern for the cabin. There is also a pump to pump water from the creek to the cistern. A propane tank is above ground and supplies the house with propane for cooking and keeps the refrigerator/freezer working.
The beautiful cabin/house sitting on 60 acres is the ideal property for multi-use recreation and hunting. There are miles of atv trails to travel covering the thousands of acres of public land surrounding the ranch. Along with the atv recreation the ranch sits in a prime location for hunting mule deer and elk. With over-the-counter elk tags in unit 62 you can hunt each year and apply for mule deer buck tags that can be draw every couple years. If shed hunting is your hobby you will love the endless shed hunting opportunities the ranch and surrounding area have to offer. In addition, there are desert bighorn sheep in the area and can often be seen in the fall and winter in the valley on the way into the ranch.
The ranch has 44% interest in the Cowger Ditch along with .88 CFS of the #H-110 decree to water the aproximatly 24 acres of meadow. With alfalfa and native pasture grass mixed in the meadow can be a mule deer magnet or it is great livestock feed for a few horses or some cows for a short period of time. Currently there are no perimeter fences so the cattle on the public cattle permit come on the property.
